A Prelaunch QA Checklist for Pharma Programmatic Campaigns

An evidence-and-owner prelaunch QA checklist for pharma programmatic campaigns, with hard stops separated from warnings.

The short answer

Most pharma programmatic errors are cheaper to catch before launch than after. A wrong audience, a missing exclusion, an unapproved creative, or a broken tag can waste budget and create compliance risk within hours. A prelaunch QA checklist catches these. The useful version names an owner for each check, records evidence, and separates hard stops from warnings.

Hard stops vs. warnings

Hard stop: the campaign must not launch until fixed. Examples: unapproved creative, missing required exclusions, wrong target list.

Warning: launch can proceed, but the issue must be fixed soon and tracked. Examples: a secondary tag not yet firing, a minor naming inconsistency.

The checklist

Creative and compliance (hard stops)

  • Every creative has a current approval from medical, legal, and regulatory review.
  • Creative versions in the platform match the approved versions exactly.
  • Required risk information is present and readable in every size and format. See FDA guidance on presenting risk information.
  • Click-through URLs go to approved pages.

Audience (hard stops)

  • Correct target list or segment, confirmed by name, version, and date.
  • Exclusions applied as listed in the exclusion register.
  • Age and geography restrictions set.

Inventory and quality

  • Allowlists and blocklists applied. (Hard stop)
  • Verification and brand safety tags active. (Hard stop)
  • Deal IDs correct and active. (Warning if a secondary deal)

Budget and pacing

  • Budgets and flight dates match the plan. (Hard stop)
  • Frequency caps set. (Hard stop)
  • Pacing settings confirmed.

Measurement

  • Tags fire correctly. See measurement tag validation. (Hard stop for primary KPI tags)
  • Holdout groups set up if part of the design. (Hard stop)
  • Naming conventions support reporting.

Record evidence and owner

Check Owner Evidence Status
Creative approvals Brand ops Approval IDs
Target list version Media lead File name and date
Exclusions Activation lead Platform screenshot
Tags Ad ops Test fire log
Holdout Analytics Assignment file

A checkmark without evidence is an assumption.

Check again after launch

Some errors only show after delivery starts. Within 24 to 48 hours, confirm delivery is on the right audience, domains, and creative, and that exclusions are working.

Practical takeaway

Use one checklist for every campaign. Require evidence for each hard stop and a named owner's sign-off before launch.
